America’s favorite snack food that is quick and easy to munch on and not to mention simple to make.  Before we start making our own chips let’s have a quick glance of the past about this amazing snack food. George Crum was a chef in a dinner located in Saratoga Springs, New York. The crisp began with a customer who thought the fries were too thick for his taste and returned the order of fries. Crum thought of something different and thinly sliced the fry which then turned into the potato chip. This all took place in 1853 George was born in 1822 and then passed away in 1944.

The potato chip is long-lived and still a very popular snack food that is eaten across the globe. Potato chips come in a wide variety of flavors, colors, and size. Take a walk to your local super market and you will find BBQ, salt and vinegar, cheese puff’s, corn chips, plain chips, and the list just continues. In the comments tell me what your favorite chip is.

Ok, on with the recipe.

  • Peel 3 or more large potatoes
  • Oven temp. 400 f.
  • Slice the potatoes in half

Sliced Potato

Now that you have your potato sliced in half place the flat side of your potato on your cutting surface and thinly slice your potato. When you are done slicing it should look something like this…

Now that you have this step established go in your cabinet or wherever you keep your baking pans and lightly spray it with cooking spray or you could butter it. Use a thin baking pan. Once you have completed that step now it is time to add your chips. Should look something like this.

Chips are added

Now that you have your pan full of yummy home-made chips lightly spray more butter on top of your chips and add your favorite seasoning. Now,  Stick it in the oven for about 14 minutes or until golden brown and then ENJOY!!!
